松山友の家
– ささえあい にじみだす あつまりの形 –
雑誌『婦人之友』の愛読者のための施設の建替。
敷地は、愛媛県松山市の郊外に位置し、瀬戸内海へ注ぐ石手川中流付近の平坦地。土器や住居跡が発掘されるような、穏やかで過ごしやすい場所である。この施設では乳幼児から90代まで100名以上の幅広い年齢層が、家事・家計、子どもの教育、健康、その他全ての家庭生活の向上のための活動を展開している。
旧建物は、1972年の高度経済成長期、200名を超える利用者のために鉄骨造2階建てで敷地一杯に建てられていた。建替えでは今後の利用者数にあわせて、半分以下に縮小した木造平屋建てとし、使いやすく管理しやすいコンパクトな計画とした。
大きな屋根の下には、ロビーを中心として屋内外の様々な活動場所を配している。小屋組は、小断面の製材を組み合わせ、梁と方杖で支え合うような形状としている。構造やシステムが勝ちすぎない柔らかな空間とし、各場所での活動が有機的につながるように考えた。
2015年に旧建物の耐震改修の検討から始まり、コロナ禍においてもWEB会議を併用しながら何度も打合せを行い、活動が継続して行く建築のありかたを全利用者とともに探ってきた。この「松山友の家」が今後もあらゆる『家の事』を軸に知恵をシェアし、開かれたコミュニケーションを展開していく場であり続けることを願う。

“House” for Matsuyama Tomo-no-Kai
– The Shape of Gathering Under One Roof –
“House” for Matsuyama Tomo-no-Kai is a community building for Matsuyama Tomo-no-Kai, where members gather for learning, meetings, and everyday exchange.
The project is organized under one large wooden roof, where various activities unfold.
The plan is organized around a central lobby, which is surrounded by several rooms with different characteristics. Each room can be used independently for specific activities, while sliding doors allow the rooms to be opened and connected, enabling the spaces to be used together as a single larger area.
A single gabled roof spans across the building, covering both the lobby and the surrounding rooms. Part of the roof is modified to form a high-side light, introducing daylight and ventilation into the interior. Differences in ceiling height and spatial volume occur beneath the roof in response to the arrangement of rooms and their uses.
Under this one roof, activities of different scales related to daily life take place simultaneously, allowing the place to be a shared “house” for the people involved.
